The Current State of Japan–China Relations and the Japan-China International Animation Film Festival

Regarding this film festival, we have received many inquiries from those who are concerned about the current state of Japan–China relations.

As stated on the festival’s website, this festival aims to become a place where the next generation, who will shape the future of the world, can freely interact beyond national boundaries through animation—an expressive medium filled with possibilities. The logo I designed also embodies this hope: in Eastern legend, when the dragon and the phoenix come together, harmony and prosperity are brought to the world.

At a time when Japan–China relations face significant challenges, cultural exchange—especially among young people—is more important than ever. In the past, periods of crisis have been overcome through grassroots, people-to-people exchanges, which served as a powerful driving force for progress.
From this perspective, the significance of holding this film festival as scheduled has, in fact, become even greater for the future of people in both countries.

The festival organizers are moving forward with determination toward the event in May. We sincerely ask for your continued support and understanding.
